Textile Tour of Uzbekistan

    Day 01: Arrive Tashkent – Flt
    Tue meeting on arrival assistance and transfer to Hotel
    Afternoon visit Fine Arts Museum where we can see the finest textiles of Uzbekistan
    Dinner and overnight
     
    Day 02: Tashkent/Ferghana – Flt
    Wed morning flight to Ferghana and on arrival transfer to Hotel
    Excursion to Andijan visit the private production of cotton material in rough and finest Material. 
    Later visit Museum which has many varieties of local silk and cotton fabric.
    Return in the late afternoon
    Meals and overnight
     
    Day 03: Ferghana
    Thu morning visit Margilan to see Yodgarlik Silk factory with
    Its production of Adras, Khan Atlas and Shokhi Silk fabric production by traditional methods.
    Here we shall see cocoon to fabric process – cocoon thread separation, spindling, dyeing of thread, later visit the looms section and see production of various fabrics.
    Also see the Golden Thread embroidery. Later visit Syed Ishan Hoja madrassah to see masters at work – see silk being produced with different designs, carpet making and
    cloth stamping with traditional designs
    Afterwards visit Rishton to see pottery production by traditional methods. We shall Visit a master potter and the house of local silk weaver and skull cap makers
    Return in the late afternoon

    Day 04: Ferghana/Tashkent – Flt
    Fri morning visit History Museum and later transfer to airport for flight to Tashkent and on arrival transfer to Hotel
    Afternoon visit Akbar’s House of a master potter who has given new impetus to local pottery by picking centuries old styles and new designs
    Meals and overnight             
     
    Day 05: Tashkent/Samarkand – 295 kms
    Sat morning departure for Samarkand and on arrival transfer to Hotel
    After lunch short orientation tour of Samarkand city

    Day 06: Samarkand
    Sun full morning excursion to Urgut – see the best of  
    Suzannes(needle point embroidery) sale in Sunday Market by the local folks. 
    Urgut bazaar is one of the very few left with traditional fervor as one can see folks thronging in from the country side selling their home made produce. We shall then proceed to another local market of Charakhchi to visit a local family involved in local gillim making return to Samarkand in the late afternoon

    Day 07: Samarkand
    Mon morning sightseeing tour of Samarkand
    Afternoon visit local carpet factory – the looms at work by an Afghan refugee are now producing some nice carpets

    Day 08: Samarkand/Shakre Sabz/Samarkand
    Tue full day excursion to Shakre sabz – the birthplace of Tamerlane
    We shall visit the Timurid period monuments
    Visit skull cap making and local embroidery in a private house
    Return in the afternoon

    Day 09: Samarkand/Nurata/Bukhara – 278 kms
    Wed morning depart for Nurata – to see Suzanne embroidery center also visit the cloth printing workshop(stamping) 
    Later continue to Gijduvan and visit a local pottery house known for its design and
    Coloration. Arrive Bukhara in the late afternoon and transfer to Hotel

    Day 10: Bukhara
    Thu full day visit of Bukhara – known for silk weaving and golden embroidery
    We shall visit a Golden Embroidery Centre later see metal chasers, the wood carvers
    and local puppet makers
    Afternoon excursion to excursion to Sitori-i-Mokhikhosa, the summer residence of the
    last emir of Bukhara – see the last emirs collection of gifts, ,Chinese porcelain, the
    Russian cut Glass and Crystal vases. The most interesting and rich collection is of local
    Suzzane Embroidery from the countryside
    Today we shall have our dinner at an old Jewish merchant house now called Akbar’s
    House where the owner has collection of old Bukharan textiles and needle point embroidery

    Day 11: Bukhara/Khiva – 450 kms
    Fri morning depart for Khiva via Kizilkum
    Arrive in the late afternoon and transfer to Hotel

    Day 12: Khiva
    Sat full day sightseeing tour of Khiva – the famous walled
    City of Central Asia is a living
    Museum and an important Heritage site.
    Today we shall visit the UNDP workshops for the development of local handicrafts.
    Here we shall visit the tie and dye process and coloring of thread used for carpet
    making see the local carpet making. See the wood carvers at work with traditional designs making small tables to huge doors carving on ‘karagach’ wood
    we shall spend full day touring the walled city

    Day 13: Khiva/Nukus – 210 kms
    Sun Nukus/Tashkent – Flt
    morning we shall depart for Nukus the remote northern end of Uzbekistan – we shall visit Krakalpakstan Regional Museum, known for its famous collection of rare Russian paintings collected by the first director Igor Savitsky saving them from destruction of Stalin era purges. 
    The museum has some excellent examples of nomadic art work as the needle point embroidery, the gillims and implements and décor of a Yurt.
    Later we shall visit Khojeili to see Yurt makers family
    Return in the evening for flight to Tashkent
    Arrival and transfer to Hotel
