Uzbekistan Textile & Ceramics Tour (Uzbekistan)

As the Silk Road activity grew it brought art and artisans to the ancient cities of Uzbekistan. Silk was the main material which was extensively used in clothing and different kinds of fabrics were developed. Similarly ceramics which also came along with silk became very popular.

 

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Tashkent.
Meeting and transfer to your hotel. Check-in time at the hotel is 3 p.m.
Overnight

Day 02: AM Tashkent to Ferghana – flight. PM sightseeing tour.
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Fergana.
On arrival transfer to your hotel.
Ferghana city is the administrative centre of Ferghana Region and an important industrial centre of Uzbekistan.
Tour of Ferghana city includes visit to the famous Yodgarlik Silk factory. It is still the only one in Central Asia where original handmade methods of silk production have remained. Silk fabric manufactured here is considered as one of the best in Central Asia.

Day 03: Sightseeing of Ferghana.

Continuation of Fergana tour includes visiting Rishton - a private pottery Factory.
Since ancient times Rishton was famous for its ceramics. There are deposits of red clay, natural minerals and abundance of mountainous vegetation that is needed for painting process. Rishton artisans became well known for their technology of ceramic and pottery production.

Day 04: Ferghana to Tashkent via Kokand. Sightseeing tour of Kokand.
Morning departure for Tashkent. On route visit Kokand. Kokand is situated in the western part of the Ferghana Valley. The Great Silk Road had played a major role in the development of the city. We will see the following monuments: Narbutabey Madrasah, Madari Khan Mausoleum, Dakhma-i-Shokhoon (Grave of the Kings) and Khudoyar Khan Palace.
On arrival transfer to your hotel in Tashkent

Day 05: AM Tashkent sightseeing tour. PM Tashkent/Bukhara – Flight.
Tashkent is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. It is the cosmopolitan town of free lined streets, shops, bridges and elegant parklands.
AM visit to the Museums of Applied Arts. One of the main attractions of the museum is the house itself, decorated in traditional 19th century Uzbek style. The collection of the museum has on display items made by three generations of craftsmen and covering the entire range of folk art, plus items of the arts industry.
PM Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bukhara.
On arrival transfer to your hotel

Day 06: Bukhara full day sightseeing tour.
Bukhara preserved its treasures of architecture of the pre-Mongol period. Thus often the City of Bukhara is considered as a Museum in itself.
Full day to explore the Gijduvan private pottery work shop and the Sitora-i-Mokhikhosa (Palace of Moon and Stars) which houses to see a rich collection of local embroidery of Suzanne.

Day 07: Bukhara to Samarkand – road transfer via Shakhrisiabz.

Departure for Samarkand. En route visit Shakhrisiabz. It is a small green town to the south of Samarkand, lying across the hills in Kashka-Darya province. Shakhrisabz is the birthplace of great commander Amir Temur (Tamerlane) and it is also famous for beautiful Suzanne embroidery. You can see a variety of them in the local bazaars.

Day 08: Samarkand full day sightseeing tour.

Samarkand is twenty seven centuries old city with the most beautiful monuments of finest architecture in the form of mosques, madrasahs and mausoleums.
Our next places to visit are local bazaar, where you can buy ceramics and textiles. Also we will visit the Carpet Factory. It is situated in the old quarter of Samarkand and run by Turkmens. Factory was built in the beginning of the 20th century and was named Khudjum (attack), symbolizing new way of women’s life of Bolshevik regime. Now several hundred girls make hand knotted very beautiful, natural silk and wool carpets of famous "Bukhara" and other Eastern designs, using only natural dyes.

Day 09: AM Samarkand to Tashkent by road.
Departure for Tashkent.
On arrival transfer to airport. Assistance on departure.
