Navruz (Nowruz) Group Tour: Spring holidays in Uzbekistan

Navruz – This New Day is an old and traditional holiday celebrated from days of the great Persian empire which had a large territory including present day Central Asia. Traditionally the day was marked with the beginning of sowing when the Persian monarchs used to bestow the land by sprinkling with gold dust. This traditional occasion later came into local religious calendar as part of annual celebration. We see Navruz being celebrated with great favor and enthusiasm from Iran to Central Asia. As per the traditions seven different food items are cooked on seven fires.
People visit their relatives and friends bringing in gifts of food and sweets. There are exchanges of pleasantries and dancing.
It is a great experience to visit an Uzbek family and see their traditional ways of preparing for Navruz and welcoming the guests.
